Ric Voorhies
Owner & Head Coach
Ric opened Gym X-Treme Gymnastics & Cheerleading in 1999. He has been actively coaching gymnastics since 1991 and has coached state championship teams at each Level 6-10. He has coached numerous college scholarship recipients and was the coach of Courtney Bumpers (2-time NCAA floor champion for North Carolina). Ric has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from The Ohio State University and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. In his free-time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Amy, powerlifting, running, motocross, and is an avid MMA enthusiast.
Amy Voorhies
Owner & Team Coach
Amy was a competitive gymnast for ten years and earned multiple state championships. She was also a regional qualifier. She has been coaching gymnastics since she was 16 years old and also coached the optional team at Gym-Nation before returning to Gym X-Treme to coach Levels 4-6. In 2012 Amy graduated from The University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition with a Minor in Business. She enjoys running marathons and also choreographing gymnastics routines. Amy is also a self-proclaimed Shopaholic!
Joanne Docherty
Team Director & Coach
Joanne brings 25 years of competing, coaching and judging experience to Gym X-Treme. She has coached multiple state, regional, and national champions. She also oversees Gym X-Treme’s TOPs/HOPEs Program, which has produced numerous National Qualifiers and athletes named to the TOPs A Team, B Team, and Diamond Level. Joanne is dedicated to making a positive impact on the athletic journey and the journey of life of her young athletes. She is committed to changing the lives of young girls by building champions. Joanne and her husband Brian have two daughters, Katlyn and Heather.
Yuliya Sabko
Team Coach
From 1992-2000, Yuliya was a member of the Belarus National Artistic Gymnastics Team. She won Gold at the Belarus Championships in 1996 and the 1997 Belarus Cup. Yuliya was also a reserve member of the Belarus Team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. She has worked as a choreography coach for the Women’s Belarus National Team since 2000. She started working at Gym X-Treme in 2003 and has coached Levels 4-10. Yuliya attended Olympic High School from 1992-1996 and the Academy of Physical Culture and Sport of Belarus from 1997-2000. In her free time, Yuliya and her husband Sergei are busy taking care of their three young boys.
Mike Thomas
Team & Rec Coach
Mike competed for Delaware Hayes Men’s High School Gymnastics Team for three years before he graduated in 1991. He has been coaching 2 year olds through Optional Level gymnasts for more than 20 years. Mike has also coached many state champions. He also enjoys playing chess, playing music, camping, and spending time with his son, Jonah.
Kristen Willms
Team & Rec Coach
Kristen is a former Level 9 gymnast for Gym X-Treme and competed for the Dublin Coffman High School gymnastics team from 2001-05. She was also a college cheerleader at Kansas State. Kristen coaches recreational classes through Level 4 at Gym X-Treme and is also the Dublin Jerome High School Gymnastic’s Team Head Coach. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education form Kansas State University and finished her Master of Education in 2013. Outside of the gym, Kristen is a teacher and tutor and is busy being mom to her son Brock.

Alexis Armas
Team & Rec Coach
Alexis was a gymnast for 14 years. She competed Level 10 at Orlando Metro. Alexis has been coaching gymnastics since 2006. She was the captain of her high school cheerleading squad. Alexis graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports & Exercise Science. In her free time, Alexis enjoys spending time with her family, with her dog, and traveling.
Dexter Shell
Team & Rec Coach
Dexter is a former cheerleader for the University of Alabama. He has 6 years of gymnastics coaching experience and loves to help kids better their skills, while encouraging them to reach their best potential. Outside of the gym, Dexter likes to watch college and NFL football, work out, and run. He also taught himself how to play the drums.
Carmen Jolliff
Team & Rec Coach
Carmen started gymnastics at 22 months old. She's spent almost her entire life at Gym X-Treme...since early childhood until she graduated from high school as a Level 10 in 2015, and now as a coach. Carmen wants to share her passion for gymnastics and love of the sport to encourage young gymnasts to be their best. Carmen is a graduate of Buckeye Valley High School and currently attends Ohio State. She has been involved with 4-H for 14 years and enjoys nature and outdoor activities.
Maddy Few
Team & Rec Coach
Maddy competed 12 years of gymnastics, finishing her career as a Level 10 gymnast. She graduated from Reynoldsburg High School and now adores being mom to her amazing little girl. Maddy is a true animal lover. She enjoys horseback riding and loves her pitbull and husky/shephard.
Kendra Wilk
Team & Rec Coach
Kendra was a Level 9 gymnast for Gym X-Treme. She competed gymnastics for 7 years and also competed Trampoline and Tumbling for 13 years, reaching Level 10. Kendra has judged Trampoline and Tumbling for 6 years, including judging the Olympic Trials in 2012. She has 6 years of coaching experience and spent 3 summers coaching at Camp Woodward on the tumbling staff. Kendra is a nursing student at Otterbein University. She participated in 4-H for 6 years and showed goats and sheep.
Kesha Carswell
Rec Coach
Kesha is a former Level 5 All-Star Cheerleader. She has coached cheerleading and tumbling for over 10 years. During that time she has coached 2 National Champion All-Star squads, as well as won Best Choreography awards in 2010 & 2013. Kesha is a graduate of Roy C. Start H.S.
Sandy Buck
Rec Coach
Sandy is a former Class II gymnast. Her coaching experience includes preschool and school-age recreational gymnastics. Sandy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Comprehensive Business Education. She enjoys working with children in the school system and at the gym. Sandy and her husband Rick have two daughters, Shelby and Carly.
MarCee Gerdes
Rec Coach
MarCee has coached Gym X-Treme’s recreational and developmental team since 2011. She has an Associates Degree in Marketing Communication from Columbus State Community College. MarCee also serves as the Drama Director grades 1 – 8 at St. Mary Delaware. She has completed the Protecting God’s Children course and was a Corporate Trainer at Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Grill. She has done Adult Ballet & Jazz at Ballet Met. MarCee has two daughters, Gianna & Lannai (both members of the Gym X-Treme Gymnastics Team) and is a step-mother to Toran. She had a role in Twenty-First Century (an independent film in 2004) and has done numerous radio voice-overs & television commercials.
Kayci Parsons
Rec Coach
Kayci was a gymnast at Gym X-Treme for 10 years. She is a student at Olentangy High School. Kayci is a member of the Service Club and Track team. She has been a track athlete for 4 years and participated in 4-H for 11 years. Kayci enjoys working with children and teaching gymnastics.
Olivia Mullen
Rec Coach
Olivia was a gymnast at Gym X-Treme for 10 years. She is a student at Olentangy High School and is involved with Service Club and Track and Field. Olivia enjoys teaching and working with children at gymnastics. She hopes to pursue a career in physical therapy or nursing.
Dallin Wride
Rec Coach
Dallin is attending Olentangy Orange High School and is from a family of six. He did recreational gymnastics for two years and then Competitive Men's Gymnastics for five years at Integrity. He has been coaching for over a year now and loves working with kids in gymnastics.
Tara Manz
Office & Rec Coach
Tara was a competitive gymnast with Gym X-Treme for 6 years. She then continued with the gym as a competitive cheerleader. Tara is a student and Varsity Cheerleader at Olentangy High School. She is a member of the Principal’s Cabinet and a leader of the Braves Kick Off Mentorship Program. Tara loves working with children and hopes to pursue a career in pediatric nursing.
Laurie Patton
Laurie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Psychology and Sociology. She has worked at Ohio Wesleyan since 1997. She enjoys spending time with her husband Greg and her two kids, Chase and Jackson. Chase is a member of the Gym X-Treme Competitive Gymnastics Team. Laurie has 2 dogs and a cat and enjoys running. She has completed 2 marathons, several half marathons and an assortment of other distance races.
Tennille King
Tennille earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Miami University where she studied Public Relations and Marketing. She has owned and operated Tennille King Photography for the past 10 years. Tennille and her husband Ty have two daughters, Gianna and Mina. Both girls have been members of the Gym X-Treme Competitive Gymnastics Team for 5 years. She volunteers as a board member for X-Treme Boosters and enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching football, TV, and movies.
